The K-row

Read かきくけこ and combine a consonant with each vowel.

By the end of this lesson

  • Recognize the main idea in the k-row.
  • Use one clear example before you begin the quiz.
  • Build confidence with a small, repeatable step.

The K-row uses a clean k sound before each vowel. The vowel order stays the same.

A repeated pattern

か is ka, き is ki, く is ku, け is ke, and こ is ko.

Read in pairs

Say the vowel row, then the K-row. Notice how the final sound changes while the order stays fixed.

Study these forms

Read each character in order. These two-character drills practice sound decoding; some are sound sequences rather than vocabulary words. かあ (ka-a) · きあ (ki-a) · くあ (ku-a) · けあ (ke-a) · こあ (ko-a) · かい (ka-i) · きい (ki-i) · くい (ku-i) · けい (ke-i) · こい (ko-i) · かう (ka-u) · きう (ki-u) · くう (ku-u) · けう (ke-u) · こう (ko-u) · かえ (ka-e) · きえ (ki-e) · くえ (ku-e) · けえ (ke-e) · こえ (ko-e) · かお (ka-o) · きお (ki-o) · くお (ku-o) · けお (ke-o) · こお (ko-o)
