The Y-, R-, and W-rows

Complete the main hiragana table and read common short words.

By the end of this lesson

  • Recognize the main idea in the y-, r-, and w-rows.
  • Use one clear example before you begin the quiz.
  • Build confidence with a small, repeatable step.

The Y-, R-, and W-rows complete the basic gojūon table. The R-row uses a light tap between r and l.

The final rows

やゆよ and らりるれろ are regular patterns. The basic W-row includes わ and を.

A grammar kana

を is normally pronounced o when it marks an object, even though its spelling is wo.
